Baseball glove グローブ

Actually I have never thought of playing baseball in Austria, or somebody would play baseball in Europe; here there is only soccer if I may say in general. I went to a baseball shop and also looked for some gloves in the Internet, but it was really hard to find the one I would like. Many hits in US sites, but they are not able to export their gloves to foreign countries.

実際オーストリアで野球をやろうとは思っても見なかったし、まさかヨーロッパで野球をしている人間が居るとは思わなかった。ここでは一般的にサッカーしかない。野球用具店に行ったり、インターネットで見てみるものの、これといったものが見当たらない。アメリカのサイトではたくさんヒットするが、どうも外国には輸出できないことになっているらしい。

The first glove I procured by myself was the one by ZETT at nearby spots shop, I clearly remember that it cost me 5,200 yen when I was 10 years old. I saved pocket money and also New Year's allowance from my relatives. The one I purchased this time from Japan is all black, all round purpose. I still do not know which position I would have in my team, or just a bench warmer..

初めて自分で調達したグローブは近所のスポーツショップで求めたＺＥＴＴ製。今でもはっきり覚えているが、小学校４年生の時に５２００円した。お小遣いをため、親戚からもらえるお年玉をためてやっと買ったものだ。今回日本のサイトから買ったものはオールラウンド用。まだどのポジションを守るかも知らないし、ベンチウォーマーかもしれない。


There are lots of valuable things to buy in our life, such as houses, cars and so on, but I started to give up owning something. I started to feel bad to do so. But this glove is much more than that. It is still hard, but I will just have a joy to polish my brand new glove with leather care cream. I have to work intensively until it fits my hand and moves like a part of it. Well at this age, I am just like a baseball kid now. My uniform has not arrived yet from Japan, but I am expected to join the baseball game on this coming Sunday in local Austrian league. But it is not sure if I can play there; we have to win the game first.

人生には高価なものがたくさんある。家や車など。でもそういうものを持つのは諦めた。 どうも気分が悪いと感じるようになってきた。でもこのグローブは別。まだ少し硬いが手入れ用のクリームでグローブを磨くのは何よりも楽しい。革が手の一部と感じられるくらいに馴染むまでがんぱって手入れしないと。この年でただの野球少年のようだ。注文したユニフォームは日本からまだ届いていないが、この日曜日のオーストリア地方リーグに参加する予定。プレイできるかどうかは定かではない。なんといっても試合に勝つのが先決だから。
