Last year, after the disaster, I made this logo and wanted to put it on my T shirt to run Vienna marathon, which I was not able to join due to sudden illness. This year, again I got slightly cold last week but I shall run in Paris this time anyhow. To cheer myself to the goal, slowly but steadily like rebuilding cities in Tohoku area.

昨年の震災の後このロゴを作って、Tシャツにこのロゴをつけてウィーンマラソンを走ろうと思っていたが、結局体調を崩してしまい参加ならず。今年も週末に天気が崩れ風邪気味になったものの、なんとしてもパリで走ります。自分をなんとしてもゴールまで、東北の町がゆっくりとでも着実に復興しつつあるように。

If you happend to see me with this mark in Paris on April 15th, please think of the disaster and what we can do to promote its further recovery, then do something for that.

１５日パリでこのマークをつけて走っている人を見たら、どうか震災のことを思い出し、どうやって復興を更に進めていけるか考えて、何かしらの行動を。

Here is the link of NGO based in Tono, Iwate prefecture where I stayed for three weeks last November. Even children can join in activity with their parents.

これは岩手県遠野市をベースにするNGOのリンク。昨年１１月に３週間滞在したところ。親がいれば小さな子供でも活動に参加できる。

Wiener Meisterschaft ウィーン選手権

Our team once canceled joining the tournament because the games would be held from Thursday evening, many of our teammates have to work.

うちのチームは一度参加を見送った。試合が木曜の夜から始まるために、出場できないメンバーがたくさん居るためだ。

But organisation asked us to play on Easter Monday, one of the teams supposed to play on the day was not available anymore.

しかし協会のほうから、イースターの月曜に一試合だけ出てはもらえないかと打診があった。出ることになっていたチームが出られないらしい。

This season, many of our teammates returned to Japan and we can play only for one league instead of two in last season. We trained three times on weekend till then, but it is just an opening of the season and we did not take it so seriously. Real penant race will begin in a week.

今期、たくさんのメンバーが日本に帰り、先シーズンのように２リーグ参戦は出来ず、１リーグのみの参加になる。週末に３回ほどチーム練習をしていたが、まだシーズンの開幕戦。あまり深刻な試合ではない。本当のペナントレースは来週から。

Whether win or not, we just had one game to play. We had only 12 members the day, I played first in right field, then the second base and finally the third base. It is not so easy to switch position, I have lots to learn to keep each position. It seems that I have to be busy learning new positions this season.

この試合に勝とうが負けようが一試合のみ。当日は１２人しかメンバーが揃わなかった。最初はライトの守備につき、その後セカンドとそしてサード。守備をスイッチするのはそれほど簡単じゃない。まだまだ覚えなきゃいけないことがたくさんある。どうやら今シーズン、新しいポジションでの守備を覚えるのに忙しくなりそうだ。

Our game started from 11:00, it was sunny but chilly then. We played 7 innings, we won the game by 18 to 7, I marked two errors and one hit. Hotdog after the game was very delicious.

試合開始は１１時。日は差していたものの肌寒い。７回闘って１８対７で勝った。エラー２のヒット１。試合後に食べたホットドッグがおいしかった。

Eating spring vegetables 春野菜を食べる

Now is the season that vegetables from new year will appear in the market. I cooked some dishes to enjoy new vegetables with friends. New potatos do not have to be peeled because it is soft enough. Just slice and fry with bean sprout. Cabbage was into salad with well fried bacon.

 旬の野菜が市場に並ぶ季節になった。友人達とそれを料理した。新じゃがは皮が柔らかく、剥く必要がない。薄くスライスしてもやしと一緒にいためる。キャベツはカリカリに炒めたベーコンと一緒にしてサラダに。

Asparagus which is the spring teller in whole Europe, was cooked together with shrimps. Simple is the best with this dish with seasonal ingredietns, no extra seasoning but slight salt is enough to enjoy both.

アスパラガスはヨーロッパでは春を告げる野菜だ。今回は海老と一緒に炒めることにした。旬のものはシンプルに調理するのが一番。 塩以外に特に何も必要ない。

Many European would say that vegetables do not taste at all and this is thre reason that they prefer meat. They only THINK that it is healty and eat vegetables. But surely it does taste like spring. Vegetables in general taste much better in Russia than in Austria in my personal opinion. For its taste and also for smell. Of course there is not like in Japan that we can find in any supermarket "Spring" something for potatos, onions, cabbage. It seems to me that many of them are not really interested in that.We have to admit that Japanese are much more sensitive to nature change.

たくさんのヨーロッパ人は、野菜は味がしないからと、肉を好む傾向がある。頭で、野菜は健康にいいからと考えてそれで食べている。でも旬の野菜は春の味がする。個人的には、ロシアで作られる野菜のほうが野菜らしい味がするような気がする。匂いも味も。もちろん日本のように、市場に旬の食材が並ぶ環境ではない。日本であれば新じゃが、新たまねぎ、新キャベツというところだが、大多数の人がそういうことにはあまり関心がないらしい。日本人がその手のことには敏感だということは認める必要がある。

Volunteer Work ボランティア

Today I met a team mate of my baseball club to hand over his public recognition of his play in 2011. His wife is from Iwate where by Tsunami affected a year ago, we just talked about that and almost nothing about baseball. He asked me about my activity in Japan in last November, he told me that he might do something when he would be in her wife's home town in that area. The more people would be aware of it that anybody can do a small thing for the area, the earlier the full recovery of the region would be finished.

今日は野球チームのチームメイトの一人に、２０１１度の表彰を手渡すために待ち合わせをする。彼の奥さんは東北の人で、話は野球には全く及ばずボランティアの話で持ちきりだった。去年の１１月にした東北でのボランティアについて聞かれた。彼は、夏に奥さんの実家に帰るときにボランティアをしてみようかと言っていた。少しでも多くの人がそういう気持ちになってくれれば、復興も一日でも早くなる。

There are lots of people wishing fast recovery in Japan but it is still on the way, although media showed us some pictures that showed us a slight progress. Actually there are lots more volunteer workers needed indeed. However in reality the number of volunteer workers decreases steadily.

日本の少しでも早い復興を願っている人はたくさんいる。メディアは日本の復興を伝えるためにいろんな写真を見せてくれて入るが、実際にはまだ途上に過ぎない。 実際にはこれまでよりも多くのボランティアが必要なのだ。しかしながら、人数は減る一方である。

Tango タンゴ

One of my salsa friends asked me some weeks ago if I would like to start tango with her. I love tango music, I said yes with some thought if I would be able to manage my time at all. There are lots of movies about dancing such as "Shall we dance" which was originated in Japan in 1996 which triggered social dance boom in Japan, and then a remake came from Hollywood after about a decade.

 サルサを一緒にやっている友人の一人が数週間前、一緒にタンゴを始めないかと聞いてきた。タンゴ音楽は大好きだし、時間に都合が着くかどうかだけを気にしながら、OKと答えた。ダンスに関してはいろんな映画がある。１９９６年に日本で公開された「シャルウィーダンス？」が日本での社交ダンスブームのきっかけになり、その１０年位後にはハリウッドからリメイクが公開される。


Tango might be a bit more popular in the movie scene than other social dance like walz. Maybe due to its more passionate but elegant movement. One of my favorite movies is Take the Lead.

タンゴはワルツよりも映画界においては人気があるようだ。おそらくその情熱的でエレガントは動きによるものだろう。一番好きな映画のひとつはテイク・ザ・リード。

Five lessons have already gone, this is quite different from salsa, it seems quite interesting. When I first moved to Vienna I thought of learning walz, yes, here is the very place to learn it, but maybe later....

５レッスンが終わったが、サルサとはずいぶん違う。とても面白い。ウィーンに引っ越してきたときにはそのうちにワルツをと思っていた。もちろん、ウィーンはワルツを習うには最適なところだが、たぶんそのうちに。。。

Krapfen クラップフェン

Yesterday the boss of our devision bought us Krapfen for each for about 100 employees.

昨日部のボスがみんなにクラップフェンを振舞ってくれた。およそ１００人分くらいか？

Krapfen is something like a donuts without hole and filled with jam or cream, or sometimes with chocolate, which is quite common in Southern Germany or in Austria. Its proper name is Faschingskrapfen. Fasching is carnival. But this Krapfen is usually available in any time of the year. There are lots of snacks in Europe which seem quite similar.

クラップフェンは穴のないドーナッツのようなもので、なかにはジャムやクリーム、たまにチョコレートが入っているものがある。南ドイツやオーストリアで一般的なもの。正式名称はファーシングスクラップフェン。ファーシングというのはカーニバルのことだ。でもこのクラップフェン一年を通して手に入れることが出来る。ヨーロッパには各地にこれと似たものがあるようだ。

Origin of the Austrian Krapfen, we can follow the document and go back to 1815 and was named after Cäcile Krapf, a female cook working for the Emperor. She made the fried bread ball filled with cooked fruits for the dance partz guests at the Vienna Congress. It was so delicious and became famous then.

オーストリアクラップフェンの起源は、1815年まで遡る。皇帝に仕えていた料理人のセシル・クラップフという人の名前からきているものだ。王宮で執り行われていたウィーン会議でのバル（ダンスパーティー）のゲストのために、調理した果物を詰めた揚げパンを作り、その評判で一気に有名になった。という話である。

Temporary toilet 仮設トイレ

It has been very very cold in Vienna since last week, temperature seldom goes up to plus, but sun shines.
There has been for more than three weeks and I was always curious about it. Colorful temprary toilets are standing in front of Charles church. I thought it first that it is now too cold to use it at least.

先週辺りからウィーンはとても寒い。気温もなかなかプラスにならないが、その代わり陽が射している。3週間くらいになろうか、ずっと気になっていた。カールス教会前にカラフルな仮設トイレが並んでいる。最初は、今使うのにはちょっと寒過ぎるんじゃと思ったが。。。

This seems to be a kind of art expressed within 1m^2 space.

どうやらこれは、1平米を使って表現するアートらしい。
