Fasching dancing birthday party カーニヴァル・ダンス誕生日パーティー

A friend of mine whom I got to know during my Salsa course hold her birthday party in Fasching period, an Austrian festival which seems like the Halloween, disguising in funny costumes. A mexican restaurant was opened about 4 months ago and there she and her friend hold salsa course for beginners. On the day when a live Latin music and trial of rum, she reserved a room only for us for celebrating her birthday.

サルサのコースで知り合った友人が、ファシングという、ハロウィーンのオーストリア版のような仮装パーティーのスタイルで誕生日パーティーを開いた。4ヶ月くらい前にオープンしたメキシカンレストランで、彼女と彼女の友達が初心者向けにサルサを教えているが、そのレストランでラテン音楽のライブ演奏とラム酒の試飲を兼ねたようなパーティーがあり、彼女はその日に一室をわれわれのためだけに貸切にした。

Actually, I did not have any costume, had no time to go out to buy some for that. So I had to go without it. I was the first to be there, I waited for about 20 minutes in the restaurant, she came up with her cat costume with a lovely tail. Then another friend of her in bee costume which I found very funny. There were around 10 people, but not all of them were in costume.

実際、仮装衣装など持ち合わせもなく、買い行く時間もなかった。それで手ぶらで会場に。まだ誰も来ていなくて、20分ほどして誕生日の当事者が猫の衣装で現れた。かわいい尻尾までついている。彼女の別の友達もミツバチの衣装で現れた。これは愉快で気に入った。10人ほどが集まったがみんながみんな仮装しているわけではなかった。

First we ordered something to eat, then slowly live music started and we started, or actually some of us started to dance. With the band members there was no space for dancing actually. My friend told me later that she decided to dance with all the friends came to her party. She seemed to prefer LA stype to Cuban one, so I tried some steps I learned in my previous LA style course before my operation on the hand and I almost forgot steps. I had to ask her to dance in Cuban style.

最初に食べるものをオーダーし、その後でバンドの生演奏が始まるころに、われわれは、というよりも何人かが踊り始めた。バンドのメンバーに、他の客が座っているテーブル。踊るスペースはごく僅か。友人は後で話してくれたことだが、パーティーに来てくれたみんなと必ず踊ると決めていたらしい。彼女はキューバスタイルよりもLAが好みのようで、手を手術する前に習ったLAのステップを試してみるがほとんど忘れていた。それでキューバスタイルで踊ってくれるように頼む。

I think I will take Salsa course LA style by her and her friend to refresh it.

友人とその友達のLAサルサレッスンに参加しようと思う。また思い出さなくては。

Invasion to salsa dance floor サルサフロアに侵入してみる

X day for me on Saturday night. Actually I took an-hour lesson three times with my friend, then we practiced sometimes at home checking how we should move our feet. There are many dance schools in Vienna; the city is quite famous for its Wiener Ball, new year dance party at the State Opera and there are also many balls, dance party locally. When they once finish their course, they would have some possibilities to enjoy dancing, to go to some clubs or the school organize such the event and also open it to the public. The event held on Saturday was also organized by one of dance schools in Vienna, occupying the big hall at Hilton hotel in the center of Vienna. It started to snow that day, the temperature dropped down to minus and the streets were white and slippery then. I thought that winter has already gone but it seemed to have come back again, not willing to say goodbye.

土曜 日はXデー。実際には1時間の個人レッスンを友人と一緒に3回受け、それから家でステップをどうするのかを確認しながら練習したくらい。ウィーンにはダン ス教室がたくさんある。ウィーンはヴィーナーバル、新年にオペラ座で開かれるダンスパーティーのことだが、それでとても有名だ。さらにその地方ごとにたく さんダンスパーティーが開かれる。ダンスのコースが一通り終わるといくつかお披露目の機会がある。クラブに行ってダンスを楽しむか、ダンス教室が外部の人 も参加OKなダンスパーティを企画するか。今回の土曜日のイベントもそんなダンス教室が企画したもので、ウィーンの中心にあるヒルトンホテルで開かれた。 当日は雪が降り出し、気温も氷点下。通りには雪が積もって凍っている。冬はもう行ってしまったかと思っていたが、どうもまだ名残惜しいらしいくて帰ってき たようだ。

My friends dressed up fabulously and I did somehow like a bartender, got a taxi to get to the hotel. Actually the number of girls are much more than men, I was supposed to work very hard. The hall was possibly actually reserved for students at dance school and with live music, not only Salsa. Outside of the hall, there was a Salsa corner. I repeated what I have learnt from my teacher until the week before, and practiced with my friend again and again. Others are much more experienced and can dance well. In the corner, I saw some very good dancers and I wished that I could dance in that way. Maybe in some time if I would practice hard on that. Not only salsa, as I live in Vienna, I want to be able to dance others too.

友人たちは 優雅にドレスアップして、自分はというとバーテンのような格好でタクシーに乗り込みホテルに向かった。女の子の数が男の人数よりも遥かに多いので、こちら も張り切って踊らなきゃいけない。ホールは実際にはダンス教室の生徒で占められ、生演奏付に合わせてサルサ以外のダンスも踊っている。ホールの外はサルサ コーナー。講師に先週までに教えてもらい、友人と一緒に練習したことを何度も繰り返す。他のメンバーは踊り慣れていて上手に踊る。 会場には何人かとても上手なダンサーも居て、あんなふうに踊れたらと思う。ちゃんと練習すればすぐに踊れるようになる。でもサルサだけじゃなく、ウィーン に住んでいるからには他のものできるようになりたい。

Salsa Time サルサの時間

I would unexpectedly join in the Salsa dance party and I took private lesson with my friend. I was just communicating with other friend in email who is very good at dancing and I reacted in the way "well, we have to try anything.." The Y day is in two weeks, I wonder how far I can go. I heard that Salsa is boomed in Japan recently, but I have never thought that I would do that.

ひょんなことからサルサのダンスパーティーに参加することになり、そのための訓練として友人とペアのプライベートレッスンを受けることになった。そもそも軽いノリで、ダンスのうまい友人の会話に「いいねぇ、何でもトライしてみないとね。」と返事をしたのが始まり。さぁ本番は２週間後。いったいどこまでいけるのやら。最近日本でサルサがはやっているのは聞いていたが、まさか自分がすることになるとは思わなかった。

At a dance studio which is within about 10 minutes walk from home, we had an hour lesson by Nancy from Venezuela. During the lesson, we are only three. We just try to adjust our body movement due to what our instructor told us. Finally we tried to dance on music combining patterns we have just learned.

家から歩いて１０分ほどのところにあるダンススタジオで、ベネズエラ出身のナンシーからみっちり一時間に渡って指導を受ける。レッスンは彼女とダンスパートナーである友人の３人のみ。ひたすら彼女の言うことを聞きながら体を慣らしていく。最後は音楽に合わせて習ったばかりのいくつかのステップを組み合わせながら踊ってみる。

After the lesson, we decided to book for the next week. But of course we have to practice somewhere out of lesson.　But I fully understood that it is very fun to dance. Nowadays, everthing is non-sex. Chances or jobs should be equal between men and women. But Salsa is not the case, men should lead women, women should move so that they seem very attractive. Simple. The more people would think the more we would lose the menlike, womenlike matters and I feel it very pitty. We cannot be the same!!

レッスンの後、次の週のレッスンを予約することにした。もちろんそれまでにもっと練習しなきゃいけない。でもダンスが楽しいのがよく分かった。最近はどんなことも性の区別なし。仕事の機会も男女差のないようにする方向。でも区別と差別とを取り違えているような風潮。でもサルサはそうじゃない。男性が女性をリードしなくちゃいけない。それに女性は女性らしく見えるように動かなければいけない。とても単純だ。考えれば考えるほど、人間から男らしさ、女らしさが消えていくような気がしてならない。残念な気がする。同じになれるはずがない！
