Almost about a half year ago, I happened to go by a book store in Steyr when I was to relocate to Vienna and needed to subject some documents at city hall, I found a book piled up high in front of the store. It was the book written by an Austrian who has been working with sport people with his "energy", so-to-say "chi", sensing what might be wrong with the patients. He was going to hold a small lecture at the book store.
As I mentioned in some previous posts, I strongly believe that our body cannot be easily "fixed" by cutting and sewing since my experience fifteen years ago. Since then I got much more careful about my health condition. I stopped to take medicine even for headache or stomachache, tried to listen to what my body wants me to tell. This is quite similar to what I have been doing for meal much before then; I listen to my stomach, not my tongue to decide what to take. This kind of idea might seem to be lunatic for most of Westerners, although they would never mean it directly, just laughing and say "ah, then I can never stop eating Schnitzel, hahaha"
I made an appointment soon after reading the book, I strongly agreed to what he wrote in the book. We want just to avoid having problems or pain without knowing why, while current European medicine always tries to explain what the cause of it. And they have to ignore everything that scientifically cannot be proved. I had to wait for about 4 months.
I took the early train to go down to Wels in upper Austria, from there I got a taxi to Weißkirchen. The author's son is now working on that, he is in the similar age. He used to work on programming, it should be a very challenging career change from my point of view, I talked with him about anything why I was there. After he examined my body by touching, he told me if I have some problem noticed about my lung and kidney. And actually I may have a strange feeling on kidney or somewhere around there for some months but still no clear phenomenon nor symptom. He massaged my body especially back, down to waist, legs and knees which I feel very cozy by that. I know that our body parts are interacting each other and some symptom cannot be explained just looking locally. I had some massage services in Austria until now, but this time I remembered some Japanese one.
It seemed to me that I had tension about my head, possibly due to my desk work, the to shoulder and waist, which could also influence knees. And I could have had somehow twisted spine for some time. After almost an hour massage, I felt my shoulders very light and my waist where I sometimes feel pain after moving a lot. Our body is to be maintained and not to go to the hospital when we feel bad. Maybe I need to take yoga stuff into my life to relax my body, not just have them work hard by training or daily tension during the work.

Energy matter
Recently I can hear very often that my colleagues are talking about heating cost at home. As the oil price raises, they get more interest in how to reduce heating cost during winter season, considering introducing new system such as natural gas, solar system, earth heat or combination of them. Popular heating system here is called central heating, oil circulates through oil pile equipped all through the building or house, it is possible to warm each room just by letting the oil into heat radiator in the room. Therefore it can never happen like in Japan, that bedrooms, toilets or bathrooms are cold like ice. I have once told others about my home in Japan. It is usual to ware sweater at home when cold. Of course with socks on. We would just let the room warm only where people are, and in the room almost nobody, it is close to the outside temperature. It would surprise almost all people here. Of course the climate in Austria is as same as in Hokkaido island or maybe colder, it should be quite reasonable. On the other hand, solar energy is not so popular for personal use as in Japan.
They might have thought that Japanese brings inhumane life to have to come back home and bear icy living room. However, when I talked about bath, they got very interested; "Until every family member finishes, they would not drain the water in bath tub. A pump to lead the water in the bath tub to the washing machine is available and they use it next day." With usual washing machine available here, we can set the water temperature up to 90 degrees according to dirtiness. The water from Japanese bath tub next day is still somehow warm, there is no waste. I feel that Japanese is a sort of people that would try to use everything effectively and hate just to abandon. But on the other hand, vending machines at night, convenience stores. Maybe European would think it too much.
Japan has pursued just convenience. At the same time could the people get too lazy contrarily? Now could it be the time to consider again? Japanese are good at spend same amount of resource effectively, but they also broadened their life style to accept apparent futility? It is surely impossible that every one on the earth can share the same life convenience. Based on the 100 % reliance of natural resources to foreign countries, it should be also necessary to consider to change life style to appeal Japanese energy saving technology to other countries.

Power supply affair2
Any country has problems. I told that there is no atomic power plant in Austria, and current German government plans to retreat from it. But in actual, how does the tendency of power consumption look like? It is a general matter all over the world that power consumption is getting more and more.
If Austria does not have to build new atomic power plant or not might be a question. Practically Austria buys electricity from abroad which is generated by atomic power plant in order to compensate domestic deficit. Due to Tokyo protocol, it is preferable to discharge less carbon dioxide for generating electricity. Atomic generation has a superiority than conventional fossil fuel regarding carbon dioxide discharging. As a result, to buy a little expensive electricity generated by atomic power plant and discharging less carbon dioxide from foreign countries means trading discharging right between nations. Well, will Japan, one of the major atomic power plant holders all over the world, be able to make good use of this energy which needs lots of care in use and also for disposal? And as a ideal resource for power supply in the future?
In order to achieve this, it is necessary to be informed every advantage and also disadvantage to Japanese citizen and fully understood so that we can choose it or reject it. If we pay higher attention to safety matter, we would have to accept some inconveniences in our daily life. But I think it almost impossible to accept such inconveniences for Japanese people. Therefore it is surely clear that it will never bring us solution, if we just avert our attention from unpleasant issuers as current Japanese foreign policy does now. How lots of people would be able to understand both good and bad on atomic power, would be the best help for solving power supply affair in near future, I think. Of course in a long run, we also have to develop alternatives for sure, at least I hope that Japan will be able to positively contribute to solve problems for other countries and also gain the initiative of it.

Power supply affair
I would be sometimes asked "Is there any atomic power plants in Japan?". How many Japanese know exactly, that they can carry out their lives with the help of the atomic energy, even though they blindly refuse nuclear resources?
There is no atomic power plant in Austria. More than 50% of the power generation are covered by water plant, and the rest is by coal, wind power and biomass at the same level. In Japan more than 40% of power supply is covered by more than 50 atomic power plants. Many people would be surprised to hear that. In Europe, represented by the declaration of withdrawal from the atomic energy by the prime minister of Germany, there is a way without atomic energy. On the other hand, in France more than 80% of energy demand is covered by atomic energy and in some countries from Russian federation there is a plan to built more atomic power plants.
Taking the huge blackout in north America and in Canada and also in Salzburg last year, Austrian government has just started to build fail-safe energy supplying system for emergency to prevent energy supply convergence at main stream. It is said that the last summer was record hot, but still it is possible to manage it (for me, Japanese) somehuow without air conditioning. Surely there is no "night life" here such in Japan. Could it be just a infection after living here some time to think that it is also in Japan necessary to take "normal life style" back again?
