絵画にそれほど興味のない日本人にも、印象派は程よく浸透している。ルノアールやゴッホを知らない日本人はいるまい。海外でも日本人の印象派好きは有名である。オーストリアは、もちろんウィーンやザルツブルグなどのおかげで、日本人には音楽の都として名高いが、貴重な美術品のコレクションも忘れることはできない。ウィーンの美術史美術館のブリューゲルコレクション、ヴェルヴェデーレやミュージアムクォーターのエゴン＝シーレ、グスタフ＝クリムトなどのコレクションは大変貴重なものである。観光収入が国家の貴重な財源でもあるオーストリアにとっては、まさにブリューゲル、シーレ、クリムト様々。
There was a judgment between the descendant of original possessor of five paintings of Klimt in Austrian treasure box and Austrian nation. These paintings used originally to be possessed by Adel Bloch Bauer and they were condemned illegally by the nation under Nazis time. The court judgment on 16th Jan. was to return these treasure to the original possessor. The portrait should be one of the most impressive paintings in Belvedere to whom once visited there, and it is in the same room where the very famous painting "The kiss" is.
その宝箱から５枚のクリムトの絵の所在について、元の持ち主の親族とヴェルヴェデーレ、すなわち、オーストリア国家との間で問題になった。これらはもともとはブローホ＝バウワー伯爵のものであり、ナチス時代に不当に接収されたものであり、裁判所はこの１６日、元の所有者に返還すべきであるとの判決を下した。この肖像画は、ヴェルヴェデーレを訪れたことのある人であれば間違いなくはっきり記憶に残っているであろう絵画の１枚だ。かの有名な”接吻”と同じ部屋に飾られているはずである。
According to experts, these five paintings together would cost about from 120 to 150 million Euro. Especially about this portrait below, they speculate that the price of this painting would exceed "A boy with a flute" by Picasso which has been the most expensive painting in the world. Fascinating touch peculiar by Klimt. The time when it was drawn, Klimt was criticized by society as same as Schiele that his paintings were erotic. I will never feel bored by just sitting and watching the painting for more than 10 minutes as I feel the same with "The kiss". The museum offers a big sofa in front of it.
専門家によれば、この５枚の絵画の価値は１億２０００万ユーロから５０００万ユーロとのこと。なかでもこの肖像は、これまで世界で一番高い絵画とされてきた、パブロ＝ピカソの”笛を持つ少年”を超えるのではないかと言う予測もされている。そう、この絵である。クリムト独特のなんとも艶やかな表現。当時はシーレ同様、エロチックだと社会の不評を浴びたそうである。”接吻”もそうだが、この絵の前にボーっと１０分座っていても飽きることがない。そのせいか、ちゃんと大きなソファーが用意されている。
The first reaction of the government was, it was too expensive to buy them back, but at the same time they recognized that it would be the huge loss for the nation. In recent newspapers, not only national newspapers but also regional one or in popular one, there were articles how the government tried to work with the money. As an art fan, I do not want the collection would be kept separately. I just wish that it would result in a positive end. A drunk had sent a blackmail to Belvedere that the painting would be destroyed to prevent that the paintings would be sent abroad, anyway, if I would be asked, I am ready to pay at least 300 Euro to keep them here.
政府の最初のリアクションは、あまりにも高価で買い戻すことができないと言うものだったが、それと同時に国家にとっての大変大きな損失であるということも認識している。ここ最近の新聞には、もちろん全国紙にも、東スポ感覚の大衆向け新聞にも、どうやってお金を工面しようかという政府の苦労が載っている。１美術ファンとしても、コレクションの散在は望ましいことではない。なんとかここは日本人風に気合を入れて頑張って欲しいと願うばかりである。国外に持ち出されたくないために、とある酔っ払いが絵を壊すとの脅迫メールを送ったそうであるが、なんにせよ、寄付を募られれば３００ユーロくらいまでなら出してもいいかなぁと思っている。
It was the first week of April when these five paitings were returned to Mrs Maria=Altmann living in Los Angeles who is the niece of the model woman appering in Bloch=Bauer1. She told that these paintings were hung on the living room wall in her house in Switzlernad in her childhood. The value of these five paintings were estimated in the auction as 246 million euros. One of these paintings, "Houses on Atter lakes" (one of the lakes in Salzkammergut famous for its scenery), a museum in upper Austria is trying to buy it back and contacts Mr.Altmann, too. I have written that it is of course sad that a fine collection would be kept separately, however, when they were returned to whom it used to belong, I also feel somehow at ease. (added 04.07.2006)
この５枚の絵がブローホ＝バウワー１のモデルにもなっている女性の姪にあたり、今年９０歳になるというマリア＝アルトマンさん（ロサンゼルス在住）の元にたどり着いたのが４月の第１週目。彼女が子供の頃、スイスに住んでいた彼女の家の居間の壁に飾ってあったそうである。この５枚の絵は結局２億４６００万ユーロという市場価値がついたそうである。このうちの一枚、”アッター湖畔の家々”という絵については、アッパーオーストリア州にある美術館がなんとしても買い戻したい（アッター湖はアッパーオーストリアのザルツカマーグートと呼ばれる景勝地にある湖のひとつ）として資金をひねり出そうと画策しているそうで、彼のアルトマン氏にもコンタクトを取っているそうである。コレクションが離れ離れになるのを惜しいと書いたのだが、こうして収まるところに収まるのを見るとなんとなくほっとする気持ちにもなるから不思議である。（2006年4月7日追記）
