Silent Sunday 平穏な日曜日

I did not have baseball game on this Sunday, I went to the museum to see the wall paint of Gustav Klimt at the Art History Museum. This year is the 150th anniversary of Klimt and the museum had a special event on his birthday last week. The stair way hall of the museum, they built up frames to get closer look at the wall paintings; there are paintings on the ceiling by many artists of the time. I have an annual pass of the museum and come to visit often, but I have never thought of it.

今週の日曜日には野球の試合がなかったので、美術史美術館にクリムトの壁画を見に行く。今年はクリムトの生誕150周年で、先日その誕生日のイベントが行われたばかり。階段のある吹き抜けのホールには足場が取り付けられ、当時の画家達の壁画を間近で見られるようになっていた。美術館の年間券を持っているのでよく来るが、これまで壁画にまで注目して見たことがなかった。

One side of the wall are all by G.Klimt. Just 100 and more years ago, but it seemed very fresh and was not able to feel aged impression which I would have for most of old oil paintings. Beside that, I was able to take a close look at the ceiling with fine decoration which surprised me a lot. I just wonder how painters did their work then.

壁の一面にクリムトの絵が描かれている。100十数年前のものだが、とても生々しく、古い油絵から感じられるような古びた感じが全くしなかった。その上、足場からは一般の天井部分にある細かい装飾がよく観察できて、それがとても新鮮だった。それに、当時どうやってこんなところに絵を描いたのかが気になってしょうがない。

The museum did a rearrangement of their rooms and the half of their rooms were closed.

今日は館の半分くらいが改装中で見られなかった。

It was lunch time, I went to the nearby cafe in Museum Quarter. In front of the square I saw a double decker which is quite unusual in Vienna, which offer free bread for people around there. I had a luck to have one of them.

お昼になったので、隣にあるミュージアムクオーターのカフェに。建物の前にはウィーンには珍しい2階建てのバスが停まっていて、通りすがりの人たちにパンを配っていた。運よくお裾分けに預かる。

This summer, sometimes very hot. This weekend, almost all the time rainy and I was just out during the sun was shining. It was even cold outside.While drinking my favorite Schremser beer, I enjoyed reading a book which I was absorbed in that ever; I almost traveled further where I had to change trains for work last week.

この夏は時々とても暑い。今週末はずっと雨が降っていたが、日の差す合間に外に出てきた感じだ。幾分肌寒い。大好きなシュレムスのビールを飲みながら、本を読む。なかなか面白い本で、先週は仕事に行くときにいつも乗り換える駅で危うく降り損なうところだった。
