The second Spring day 春が来ました2

It was very fine and warm today. Slightly over 20 degree.
I had had very nice weekend last two weeks, met one of my good friends and spent together.
This weekend I just went out to the forest nearby.

今日はとてもよく晴れて暖かかった。２０度を少し超えるような暖かさ。
先週、先々週の週末はウィーンに行って気の合う友達と一緒に過ごしたが、今週末は近くの森に散歩に行った。



While taking a walk through the forest, I encountered a big oafkozlshwoaf (squirrel but in Austrian language, in German Eichhornchen, if I do not know the Austrian version, I will be made fun of by many people here :) and tried to take a picture, but my camera finally died. :(

森を歩いていると、大きなリスに出くわした。オーストリアの言葉ではオアコッツルシュヴォワフ（ドイツ語ではアイヒホーンヒェン。この単語を知らないと現地人に馬鹿にされる）　写真を撮ろうとするが、カメラがついに死に絶えた。

I dropped my camera in Laggo Magiore in Italy and it looked completely destroyed around the zooming mechanism, but I somehow managed to fix it by hand! and I did not have a huge problem during my travel in Italy. But finally it will not work at all.

イタリアのマジョーレ湖でカメラを落として、ズーム機構の部分がかなり壊れたように見えたが、その場は何とか手で直してイタリア旅行中は特に大きな問題もなくやり過ごした。でもついにお陀仏。

After that I went to the city square and I saw tables outside the cafes or restaurants and it is much earlier than usual year. Early April last year, it was too early to eat or drink outside.

その後町の中心に行く。カフェやレストランの外にテーブルが出ているのを見つけるが、例年よりかなり早い。去年は４月にはとても寒くて外で飲み食いできるような感じゃなかった。

Then I saw a balloon flying (or floating) in the blue sky... I want to try that　at least at once.

そして真っ青な空に気球が。一度は試してみたい。

The first Spring day 春が来ました

Yes, from today Summer time starts.
I went to Vienna to see my friend yesterday and enjoyed the first spring day.　It was very fine, not very cold but rather warm.　We first went to a nice French restaurant and practiced French somehow :) Many waiters are French, customers, too.

今日から夏時間が始まった。昨日友達に会いにウィーンに行って、ようやくやってきた春を楽しんできた。とてもいい天気で、むしろ暖かいくらい。まずフレンチカフェに行ってフランス語の練習をした。ウェイターもお客さんもたくさんがフランス人。

Then we met a demonstration for animal protection on the streets or paths in the very center of Vienna, then lots of policemen. We walked in the park, sat there, and saw also lots of another people, too. Here is the park in the middle of Vienna.

それから動物保護のデモに出くわした。ウィーンの中心の通りから路地まで、たくさんのおまわりさん。公園に歩いていって芝生の上にすわって、ほかにもたくさんの人を見かけた。ここはウィーンのど真ん中にある公園。



Then we met a group of spring bringer from Colombia. They are not for the animal protection, but it sounded somehow similar ;)

それからコロンビアから春を持ってきたグループに出くわす。 音的には動物保護のデモとあまり変わりはないが、少し違う。

Reckless Missions 無謀な布教活動

I went to Vienna this weekend and cooked for my friends living there.
This time a friend of mine took her French friend to the dinner and it became more multinational.

週末ウィーンに行って、そこに住んでる友達に料理を振舞ってきた。今回は友達の一人がフランス人の女友達を連れてきて、さらに国際色が豊かに！

In general Austrian people prefer salty taste and almost everything is very salty for me. So for usual Austrian, what I would cook would be "tasteless" but "my" group do not like Austrian foods at all fortunately :)

一般的にオーストリア人は塩辛いものが好きで、ほとんどのものが辛すぎ。普通のオーストリア人にはきっと"味気ない"ものなんだろうが、幸いなことにこのグループはオーストリア料理が嫌いだ。 :)



I could have bought much more vegetable... they shrinked very much and almost disappeared from the sight!!

野菜もっとたくさん入れればよかった。縮んでほとんど見えなくなってる！！

As a Japanese, it was pitty to let shungiku and enokidake lack for the nabe... :( Until next time I have to find where I can maybe get in Vienna (or not).

First of all it is where my office is.

Secondly, the tradition is still not so prominent as in Japan.
When I first came to Austria seven years ago, there were very little to see show windows or ads. But slowly we can see more of them.

それから、まだ日本ほど大騒ぎしていないこと。
7年前オーストリアに初めて来たころ、ショーウィンドウも広告もほどんどなかったが、少しづつ増えてきた。

Usually shops are closed on Sundays, but flower stands this time were exception. They kept open on the day 14th until 20, and Sunday from 8 to 15. It is something in Austria.

普通日曜日はお店が閉まっているが、この度花屋さんは例外。ヴァレンタインデーの土曜日も２０時までお店を開けていて、しかも日曜日も8時から15時まで。これはオーストリアではすごいこと。



I do not think that day is only for women to send men something in Austria. Men would buy folowers for women, or a bottle of perfume. Any way there will never be a bad tradition like in Japan to send "giri" chocolate in the office, I am sure. They do not care for others what they are doing at all, who will receive will just receive and never hand it in the office.

オーストリアでは女性だけが男性にプレゼントを贈る日とは考えられていないようだ。男性が女性に花や香水を贈ったりと。いずれにせよ日本のような義理チョコを送るような悪しき習慣は間違いなく生まれない。ここではほかの人が何をしていようが気にする人はいないし、そもそも受け取るべき人が受け取るだけで、それもわざわざ職場に持って行くようなことはしない。

Hiking in snow

I went to hiking in the mountain in national park about 30 km north from Steyr. They offer a guide tour walking with snow shoes through the forest. It was snowing but therefore we were able to enjoy fresh deep snow all aroud, there nobody lives except small creatures or wild animals...

シュタイヤから南に３０ｋｍほどのところにある自然公園にハイキングに行ってきた。そこではかんじきをはいて森の中を散歩するガイドツアーがある。雪が降っていたが、おかげでまっさらな一面の深雪を堪能できた。そこには小さな生き物と野生動物以外誰も住んでいない。





The tour started from the ski piste it used to be, we walk through the forest, go up and down the slop between trees. We had lunch in the forest (I took onigiri with me) then three and a half walk finished.

ガイドツアーは元スキー場のゲレンデからスタートして、木々の間を通りながら斜面を登ったり降りたり。途中森の中で持ち寄ったお昼を食べて、（おにぎり持参）そして３時間半ほどのトレッキングは終了した。

White world

It has been snowing since last Tuesday in Austria, and today it was really fine first time after some weeks. I have been very busy too since New Year start, I let myself to took a deep breath to go further not to lose my way to go. I took a walk outside for about an hour, the air was cool and fresh, I love the coldness.

先週火曜から降り続いていた雪が今日ようやく止み、数週間ぶりにすばらしい天気になった。新年明けからとても忙しくしてきたが、これからまだまだ続く仕事を考えるとたまには深呼吸をするくらいの休憩も必要だ。今日は外を小一時間ほど散歩してきた。空気が冷たくて気分をリフレッシュできる。寒いのは嫌いじゃない。
I want to mention that there is something new in Austria from this year.
First of all, Linz, the capital city of upper Austria is the European cultural city 2009 besides Vilnius in Lithuania, many visits are expected this year even to Steyr.
Secondly, a new law about smoking started and any location has been involved in this issue. Any bar or restaurant should split non-smoking and smoking area and make it visible with the sticker. If they have no room to split or too small to split, they can decide if they are smoking/non-smoking location to guests.

今年になってオーストリアではいくつか新しいことがある。ひとつは何においてもアッパーオーストリア州の州都リンツがヨーロッパ文化都市に、リトアニアのヴィルニウスと同時開催で選ばれ、シュタイヤーにもたくさんの観光客が期待されていること。それから二つ目には、新しい禁煙ルールが始まったことだ。どのバーやレストランも、禁煙、喫煙箇所もしくは部屋をステッカーを貼ってはっきりと明示すること。店が狭くて部屋を分けられない場合には禁煙か喫煙かのどちらかを選んでやはり明示しなければならない。

As it was easily imagined, Austrian would not especially want to ban smoking. Many small bars or restaurants would select the way to be smoking location. There were some bar owners in lower Austria were fined a few days ago because they did not put the sticker at their bar; For each 100 Euro. From the next time for the people already fined before should expect 200 Euro for the next time.

容易に予測できたことだが、オーストリア人はそう簡単に禁煙などしたがらない。たくさんの小さいバーやレストランはもちろん全面喫煙場所になる道を選ぶ。数日前、何人かのバーのオーナーが、彼らの店にステッカーを貼っていなかったとして一人当たり１００ユーロの罰金を命じられた。次から前科者はその倍の２００ユーロを払わなくてはならない。

Austria has a long tradition of Cafe, especially in Vienna. Many authors, artists, musicians would go to their favorite cafe and spend their time writing or whatever. Of course the owners cannot accept such the quick change for sure.

オーストリア、なかでも特にウィーンは長いカフェの文化がある。たくさんの文豪や芸術家、音楽家が自分のお気に入りのカフェに足を運んで書き物をしたり、ゆっくりとした時間をすごしたり。もちろんオーナー側もこのような早急な変化には賛成しがたいものがある。

For non-smokers, they cannot enjoy their dishes in the white world fulled with smoke, to make the matters worse, in their European way of thinking, they would never care for others and just go their own way, would cause trouble or conflicts all the time, insisting only their point of view. If they just had a generous mind to ask others if it will not mind them before staring smoking, they could live more peacefully.

ただ喫煙をしない人にしてみれば、白い煙の中で食事を楽しめるわけもなく、周囲の人間のことなどまったく気にかけないマイペースの西洋人たちは、いつも自分側の主張のみを押し付けて口論やら喧嘩をするだけ。タバコをすってもいいかなどと周囲の人に一言声を掛ける心の余裕さえあったらもう少し平穏に暮らせるものを。
